It’s been a while since we’ve done a biracial hair care review so let’s jump right in it!
I recently purchased Shea Moisture’s detangler spray for Bear. I’m a huge fan of Shea Moisture and own and tried just about everything they have! Seriously. I went from being on the fence to being a bonafide fangirl of theirs. (Cantu and Camille Rose are also others I stan for.)
Now we know the player, let’s see how the game is played:
Consistency:
It’s a spray. Nice and light.
Smell:
Very light. Honestly, there really isn’t that much of a smell. Not heavy which is good if you have a sensitive nose like I do.
Cost:
Cheap! I paid $7.99 for this.
The Routine:
I would typically use this after I shampooed/conditioned or co-washed his hair. If I haven’t done neither of those, I would saturate his hair with just plain water.

Pros:
- The Shea Moisture brand is available practically everywhere. I got this one at Target. (They often has a BOGO sale at numerous stores like CVS, Ulta, Target, etc.).
- It’s cheap. So ridiculously cheap. Shea Moisture is known for its affordability.
- It’s very light in texture and fragrance.
- It contains coconut oil and slippery elm extract, that really aids in the detangling process.
Cons:
- You have to spray a lot to see any impact. I mean you’re constantly spraying so that’s something to consider for future purchases.
- Hair is really damp after application (again, this is going back to the above point of spraying a lot). When it does dry, wow! Curls galore.
- While it boasts of being anti-frizz, it’s not a miracle worker. Your hair will still frizz up eventually. Bear’s hair does have some frizz so I would probably have to put some more on.
In conclusion, I do recommend this if you have Type 3 hair. I haven’t used it on my Type 4 hair yet so I’ll do a review of that soon.
